Glitter tats have been creeping into the kits of face painters. To be honest I struggled with them at first but then through networking I found some easy tips for application and now they are a standard in my kit.
Glitter tats are something that last for 3 to 7 days and endure exposure to water. That makes them a great alternative when it is hot or if you happen to be hired to work at a party where swimming is involved. I do not recommend doing glitter tats on the face as they are removed with rubbing alcohol (91% works best). They are perfect for the arm, shoulder, ankle, or back. Here is the basic technique and then a few examples. You can get as elaborate as you like with numerous applications of color.

Using the lip gloss applicator apply the glue to the skin drawing a shape. The glue is white and will quickly dry clear but maintain a tacky feel.

NOTE: By dusting with powder first, you'll alleviate the problem of perspiration attracting excess glitter.

Poof the glitter over glue (once it has dried tacky). Other option is to dab the glitter on with your finger.
Brush away the glitter and the shape you have drawn with your glue will pop out all done in glitter!
Step By Step Little Tiger
Here’s a quick sample of a little tiger. You can see from the pictures that you “build” the colors one at a time. I used orange for the background, white for the muzzle and a microfine black glitter to add a little detail.
